Meanwhile, Izzy Glow will be flying around the screen, using his ability to teleport to confuse you as he appears and disappears around the room. It's not that Izzy Glow is a hard enemy to defeat, but it makes it slightly more difficult that his primary weakness, the Tri-Thunder, is such a slow-to-react weapon. Izzy Glow is a Firefly Maverick that is able to bring himself to an airborne state, where he stays for a majority of the battle. When he is defeated, the Tri-Thunder is yours. You may or may not want to enter this battle with a Sub Tank for added safety. Use this as an additional platform to avoid his attacks, and also use it as a pedestal to attack from. At some point during the battle, he will even break out a square box that will suspend itself in the center of the room. Avoid his electricity charges the best you can (they are easy to dodge for the most part - when he shoots electricity across the floor, stay on the walls to avoid damage). His weakness is the Goo Shaver acquired from Duff McWhalen, and makes the fight much easier than it otherwise would be (although it's still a challenge compared to Duff McWhalen or Grizzly Slash). A friend of Launch Octopus (dispatched in Mega Man X by our friend X), Squid Adler fights with an added fury. An electric-based enemy, Squid Adler has the power to shoot electricity in many different forms at his enemy. Squid Adler is where the Maverick enemies in the game begin to gain a little steam as far as difficulty is concerned.
When he's defeated, he's gone, for now anyway. He doesn't do a lot of damage to "Fourth Armor" X, who you should be using. Use a Sub Tank if needed here, but it shouldn't be necessary. Also he can jump across the room and slash with his sword, which is relatively hard to dodge. Just avoid his various attacks (he can throw his sword, which will come back, so you'll have to dodge it twice. He is extremely easy to defeat with the X-Buster (especially charged). The first time we meet Dynamo in the game is after you fight two Mavericks (so in our case, we've defeated Grizzly Slash and Duff McWhalen and are now fighting him). If you can resist this brief barrage, you will defeat him easily, and likely without even being damaged! Dynamo He'll do similar attacks that he did before, but the cubes will come in quick moving bursts - he'll basically attempt to pincer you in between the cubes and the spikes to kill you instantly. On the right side of the room are spikes along the wall that will kill you instantly if touched. When he's nearing death, he'll swim towards the left side of the room. Wait until he stops flashing, and hit him again (you can sometimes get hits in before he even begins to fire more ice cubes).
When he's hit with one, his cubes automatically crumble. You can walk along these (they are constantly moving outward) and more importantly you can use them to get a little bit above McWhalen so you can hammer him with a C-Shot.
#THE SKIVER MEGAMAN X5 SERIES#
His primary mode of attack is he'll create a series of ice cubes and send them at you in various locations heading leftward. Duff McWhalenÄuff McWhalen is an extremely easy Maverick to defeat as well, granted he becomes even easier once you've defeated Grizzly Slash and acquired the C-Shot. He only shoots this when he's nearing death, thankfully. Also, be weary of the larger C-Shot he can shoot, which is harder to avoid. He usually gives a second's notice before he busts through the ground - as for the walls, just stay away from the three different colored squares in the background which is where he can come from. Keep an eye on your surroundings when this happens and dodge him when he reveals himself. When he sustains enough damage he'll eventually start drilling into the ground and through the walls. This actually works to your advantage, since Grizzly Slash often likes to jump around his lair - these little crevasses give you a place to hide! Using your X-Buster (charged or otherwise), lay into Grizzly Slash whenever you are able, while dodging the C-Shot he throws at you. When you get to his lair, you'll notice that the floor is of the uneven variety.
You'll definitely want to start out the game fighting Grizzly Slash, since he is beyond a doubt the easiest of the Mavericks to defeat in the game.
